The bark of Cinnamomum verum, along with other species, is used to make cinnamon. Its native Sri Lanka still produces the vast majority of the world's supply. In late summer, Cinnamomum verum produces small white and yellow flowers in panicles.

There are several different cultivars based on the taste of the bark.
